Q&A with Octavius
What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Usually, I’ll make a cup of tea and have some blueberries, chia seeds and granola. Then I watch Good Mythical Morning while I do some crosswords to get my brain going. After I’ve had my breakfast, I try to get in a quick workout usually I do weight training but occasionally I’ll do a bit of cardio to get my blood pumping. After I’ve moved my body a bit I’ll shower and get dressed for work. I typically start my workday checking my emails and Voicemails if I have any.
Share the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you.
The best piece of advice I’ve ever received was to be myself. I strongly believe that if your honest with who you are and about what you want. Life is just easier. So I always try to be as transparent as possible, and as honest as possible.
What’s your process of turning a bad day into a good one?
Typically, I don’t like to think of days as good or bad. I feel like every day alive is a chance to learn and grow. So, when I do have a less than optimal day I do my best to accept it for what it is. A temporary moment of discomfort. After acknowledging that I take a deep breath and take note of what made me feel that way. I ask myself what I can learn from this situation and take with me so that if I’m ever confronted with the situation again, I can handle it in a way beneficial to my future self and to those around me.
What is your favorite thing about working for Portnox?
I would have to say the people. Everyone I’ve meet has been extremely helpful and informative. With all the new changes it’s understandable for people to be tied up with their own things. But people have gone above and beyond to help me out with getting on-boarded and ramped up. I’m extremely grateful for Maygal and Lucas especially for getting me ready to dial and showing me the ropes with everything.
What led you to decide you wanted to work at Portnox?
The product really. We provide a valuable tool that protects not only our clients but their clients as well. Its great to be a part of a solution that’s truly helpful all around. Often in sales it’s easy to get wrapped up in just the numbers and things. But when your involved in such a great and useful product it’s easy to also focus on the people aspect of it. Afterall without the people there are no meetings or sales.
What does a work/life balance look like to you?
I think when you enjoy what you do then work and life kind of naturally find balance. Like the old saying goes “If you love what you do you won’t work a day in your life” I truly love SDR work and sales in general. Its a chance to challenge myself daily and work on my communication and listening skills which benefit me naturally in my everyday life also.
